The Bad Bargain Ceilidh Band

Who are we?

Named after the York lane in which Ebor Morris's practice hall is situated, the Bad Bargain Ceilidh Band is a Ceilidh, or Barn Dance band from York who specialise in English traditional country dances and tunes; ideal for beginners and novel for specialists as many of the dances come from unpublished manuscripts or traditional sources.

We draw from a pool of 8 musicians, most of whom have been playing traditional music on the folk scene for many years.

What do we do?

The band plays acoustically or through its own PA system as circumstances demand and offers a distinctive package of entertainments:
A programme of dances for all, explained by our caller.
Demonstration of solo traditional dances such as broom and step dancing.
